Unlike Lithium, Sodium can go sub zero and still take a charge and provide power. It’s still a bit more expensive than lithium because it’s only recently that the energy density has begun to catch up to lithium. Currently we’re seeing about 175 watt per kg whereas lithium is around 250 but that gap is narrowing. The solar panels in this package are of a stainless steel sub structure and have bipass diodes on each cell, which means they are very robust, they can be walked on or even shot and only the individual cell that was hit will stop producing, the rest of the module will keep pluging along. If that was to happen we recommend dropping a bead of silicone on the penetration to keep moisture from moving in.
